Private Eye has done this before of course, but the tone of their articles recently makes it pretty clear that the publication has got the measure of the dreadful org. In the latest edition (the one with our Home Secretary bravely stepping out to get a kebab), you'll need to find page 9.
We have reported on efforts of the people of Thiruvananthapuram and Bhopal to keep their libraries and on the glib responses of the BC. See their web site here. Private Eye reports that the British Council would be sending "Education UK councillors" instead. So instead of a library where the good people of Kerala can pursue disinterested research and reading, they are now to get "public seminars", which are in fact recruitment exercises for British universities.
It's all a disgrace. Once we did things quite well and accumulated a degree of good will accordingly. Now we subsidise money-grubbing, percentage-seeking, manipulative, unaccountable, self-centred propagandists.
